What is the library's food and beverage policy?

D'Amour Library Food & Beverage Policy

D'Amour Library provides a welcoming environment for study and research. All library users share responsibility for maintaining clean, safe, and functional spaces.

Leave No Trace

Patrons may bring food and beverages into the library provided they leave no evidence of their presence — disposing of all waste properly, cleaning surfaces after use, and preventing damage to library materials, furnishings, and equipment.

Expectations for Use

  • Dispose of trash and recyclables in appropriate containers.

  • Clean up crumbs, spills, and residue immediately.

  • Use covered containers for beverages.

  • Avoid foods that are messy, odorous, or disruptive to others.

Shared Responsibility

Library staff reserve the right to interpret and enforce this policy to protect resources and ensure an equitable environment. Repeated or egregious violations — including leaving messes, causing damage, or disregarding staff instructions — may result in temporary or extended restrictions on food privileges and referral to appropriate campus offices.
