How do I get around a Google Scholar "reCAPTCHA" error?

Are you getting an error message when trying to access content through Google Scholar?

There have been some reports of a reCAPTCHA error when trying to access Western New England content through Google Scholar search and/or the Google Scholar links from the Full Text Finder results page in the library’s databases.

If you receive an error message, use the instructions below to access WNE content through Google Scholar:

  1. Navigate to https://scholar.google.com/.

  2. Log in to your Google account in the top right of the screen.

  3. Select “Settings” from the menu () on the top left of the screen.

An open web browser tab with Google Scholar. In the top left corner is a menu icon composed of three gray horizontal bars. The user has clicked this icon and opened a menu of the following options: my profile, my library, alerts, metrics, advanced search, settings. A yellow arrow points to settings.

  1. Select “Library Links” and search for Western New England University, then select “Western New England University - Full Text @ WNE.”

A website browser tab is open with Google Scholar Settings. Library links is selected. Show library access links for (choose up to five libraries): Western New England University is typed into a blank search bar. A check box is marked next to Western New England University - Full - Text @ WNE. Online access to library subscriptions is usually restricted to patrons of that library. You may need to login with your library password, use a campus computer, or configure your browser to use a library proxy. Please visit your library's website or ask a local librarian for assistance. Blue save button. Gray cancel button. To retain settings, you must turn on cookies. The word cookies is hyperlinked.

  1. Save and return to the Google Scholar search screen. You should now be able to search Google Scholar and use the links to full text content in WNE’s databases.

A website browser tab is open with a Google Scholar search for consumer behavior. About 3,550,000 results (0.04 seconds). Next to the title Information and consumer behavior is a PDF jstor.org link. It is labeled Full-Text @ WNE underneath. This is hyperlinked.
