How do I create a permalink to an article or video?
What are permalinks?
When bookmarking or sharing a link to an article, film or other electronic resource from D'Amour Library, you need to make sure you use a permalink -- copying the URL from your browser's address bar won't work.
In general, a permalink will be a URL that starts with the D'Amour proxy prefix:
http://wne.idm.oclc.org/login?url=
For example, the following URL is NOT a permalink:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0165011418305694
But adding the prefix turns it into one:
http://wne.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0165011418305694
As long as your URL looks like that, you can freely share the URL or post it to Kodiak.
Databases with Permalink Tools
Many databases, including Films on Demand, Kanopy, EBSCO and Gale, have built in permalink/bookmark tools. In most cases, the permalink tool will create a link that can be used both on- and off-campus. Simply copy the URL provided by the database.
Here is where the permalink button is in Academic Search Premier:
'
And in Kanopy (which calls it "Share"):
Kanopy URLs do not contain the proxy prefix, but will still work!
Databases Without Permalink Tools
However, other databases, such as PubMed, PsychiatryOnline, and ScienceDirect, do not have built-in permalink tools. In that case, copy the URL from the address bar of your browser, for example:
And add the proxy prefix like so:
http://wne.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0165011418305694
